The Cluster of Excellence Integrated Energy Systems CINES addresses the central technological and economic challenges of the energy transition. The goal is the system and market integration of high shares of of variable renewables into the energy system. To this end, CINES combines the competence of a variety of Fraunhofer-institutes along the value chain of energy research.
CINES develops solutions for the energy system transformation - comprehensive, cross-sectoral energy systems analysis, digital solutions for the energy transition, as well as decisive advances in the areas of power electronics and heat supply.
