DiMA-Grids – Digital business models with self-determined users for smart distribution grids

The requirements for ensuring security of supply and system stability as well as for avoiding grid bottlenecks increase with a strong spread of renewable energies and lead to a greater need for flexibility in the energy system. This particularly affects so-called prosumers, who can be not only electricity consumers but also electricity producers or storage operators at the same time. Digitization, which enables increasing networking of all players in the energy sector, can become a key technology for the provision of flexibility.

The aim of the project is to further develop existing approaches to the digitization of the energy transition. To this end, both greater participation and activation of end customers and more flexible and automated control of distribution grids are to be researched as part of the project. The work objectives within the project are to identify digital business models based on platform economies and to investigate how they can be implemented and realized.
